Wasn’t the company called Betonggruvan?

Thats right! When Josefine Halfwordson founded Betonggruvan 2011, she worked from a basement in Stockholm, casting concrete tables. Whenever a customer wanted to come see the tables, they were instructed to call Josefine, who then took the elevator upstair to get them. Comparing the elevator to a mine shaft and the basement to a mine, going down to see the sought after tables made of concrete, the name Betonggruvan (“the concrete mine” in Swedish) felt reasonable.

Since then, the concrete tables have been replaced by other products in other materials, our community of shelf lovers has grown far beyond the Swedish borders and as we celebrate 10 years this year we thought it was time for a name change. Betonggruvan becomes TÔNN furniture! Read more about the change of namn here.
