The Portal shelf changes rooms, is moved around and expanded or converted for new purposes. Frida Schüler can vouch for that, whose Portal shelf took on a new shape in the form of two shelves after a move. Join us and see what Frida was thinking.
Tell us a bit about yourself and where we are - who creates and lives here?
-My name is Frida and I live with my family in central Gothenburg. We live a social life and like to share everyday life with friends - both in the city and in our allotment in the country. I work in the advertising industry, but my creative side is mostly expressed through gardening and interior design.
We've been living in our current apartment for just under a year, and for the first time we're taking it easy with the decor. Although some furniture is missing, the paintings are still in piles on the floor and the walls are untouched, it already feels like home. The only thing we didn't wait for was our Portal shelves - they were one of the first things we put in place to unpack the boxes.

We re know that you've had several Portal shelves over the years. How did you find TÔNN in the first place?
- That's right - I'm a loyal fan of both Portal and TÔNN! But it all actually started with a coffee table. Almost 15 years ago, my husband and I bought a concrete table from Josefine, a table that we loved and that really stood up to everything. It went through two moves before finally finding new owners. And on that path it is!

Your shelf has gone through both moves and rearrangements. How have you let it change and adapt over time?
The best thing about Portal is just how adaptable it is - that it can change with both needs and space. In our last apartment, we started with a TV bench and a high shelf in the living room. But when I started working from home, we suddenly needed a desk, so we expanded the high shelf with more end panels, shelves and a desk shelf.
When we moved to a new apartment last year, the shelf no longer fit in its entirety, and we no longer needed a TV stand or a desk for me. However, the children now had their own rooms that needed furniture! So the desk and the TV stand were put together and given new life in the son's room, supplemented with some new shelves. The rest of the shelf ended up in our large hallway, where it now serves as both a relief area, storage and a nice and inviting eye-catcher.
