We really think it’s extra lovely when furniture can have different functions, that’s the starting point of our design philosophy. The Portal shelving system is a multifunctional piece of furniture that can act as a regular bookshelf, TV unit, hall furniture and so on. In addition, it is absolutely perfect as a shelf for vinyl records. There is 32 cm space between the shelves, which makes the shelf an excellent vinyl shelf for your LPs.
Don’t let your LPs gather dust in the attic or be stuffed in a box. And besides, what a wonderful feeling it is to put on a real record, so go ahead and use them!

Is the underside of your record player more than 30.7 cm (the depth of our shelves)? Do like @swantjehinrichsen: cut a wooden board the same size as the base of your player and screw it into the shelf. See below.

We get a lot of questions about whether our shelving systems are suitable as a shelf for vinyl records, and as we answered above, all our shelving systems work perfectly for this purpose.
Below we list the most common questions we receive about the possibility of using our shelving system as a vinyl shelf.
Will an LP record fit on the shelves?
Yes, they can fit. The height between the planes is 32 cm and the depth is 30.7 cm. So they go right in.
Don’t the vinyl records fall out between the ends?
No they don’t. Because the dimensions are perfect for vinyl records, the ends catch the records and prevent them from falling out.
The width of a vinyl record is exactly as wide as the shelf ends.
How many kilos does the shelf plan hold?
Maximum weight MDF: 50 kg evenly distributed over the shelf.
Maximum weight of pinewood: 50 kg evenly distributed over the shelf.
How many LPs will fit?
In each section (80cm) there is room for about 150 vinyl records.
