Chez Tess Medina

From the finale of Sweden's MasterChef 2024 to the cookbook À table med Tess, food inspirer Tess Medina has been cooking with the world as her source of inspiration. In her home, Los Angeles, Stockholm and Paris come together, with generous flavours in the kitchen and always room for more around the table. We were invited into Tess's home, where the door is always open and there is almost always something delicious cooking on the stove.

Hi Tess! Where are we now?

We've ended up right on top of a hill by Mariatorget. Some might call it Mariaberget, but to me it's Mini Paris. All the cobblestones and exhausting stairs up remind me of Montmartre.

- What's on your Portal shelf, and what were you thinking when you styled it?

Most of the cookbooks I've collected over the years are stacked on the shelf. My LED sign "kiss the cook" also screams in neon light. Behind the sign, I've framed the front page of Svenska Dagbladet from the day I won Sweden's MasterChef 2024. I remember it was absolutely impossible to get hold of a copy of SvD here on Södermalm, haha.

- Your home feels like the kind of place where you can just drop by and suddenly have something amazing in front of you on the table. What's your best trick for making guests feel welcome?

Stop thinking everything has to be "Tidy". My home is always open, no matter the day, to EVERYONE. But then you can't expect an impeccably tidy home either. If you don't make a big deal out of it, no one else will either.

A huge thank you to Tess for letting us take a peek inside your home! Follow Tess on @foodiebytess.
